Morgan turned 1 month(2 weeks ago)!! Can't believe how big she is getting!!  She is doing great, since we have been home she has had not had any apnea episodes, she is off the apnea monitor, gets to eat more, and is sleeping longer at night!! Now we just have to work on not screaming while in the car!

Morgan Romriell

We have had an eventful couple of weeks(including buying our own wing of Summerlin Children's Hospital).  Our cute little Morgan was born Aug 18th at 7:58am weighing 7lbs 12ozs and 20" long.  She was perfectly perfect.  She had a little heart murmur, but we were assured it was normal and not a cause for concern.  We left the hospital 3 days later.  2 days later, I finished feeding her, tried to burp her, and then laid her down on the bed, I then looked over at her and her lips were purple, her face was turning a dusky color and she was twitching, after an eternity(30 secs) she came around.  This was the second time it happened, so off to the ER we went.  Apparently the wrong ER, after 3 hours there, we took an ambulance ride to the children's hospital. They admitted her to the PICU.  They ran numerous tests, including an upper GI an EEG, and a sleep study.  She saw every kind of specialist they could think of. After 6 days, including a horrific wednesday of watching our sweet baby quit breathing 12 times(had to be bagged -resustitated- twice) we had a reason for her naughtiness.  The upper GI showed reflux, and the sleep study showed that she had obstructive apnea.  Essentially, instead of being a "spitty" baby, food comes up and gets caught in her windpipe, and she stops breathing.  The twitching is just a reflex, not seizures(whew).  CURE-she must sleep at 45 degree angle, eat 1 oz of milk thickened with rice cereal every 2hrs, zantac 3 times a day, be attached to an apnea monitor, and must sit up for 1/2 hr after eating.  Thx to everyone for prayers and support, we so appreciated it:)
